Born and raised in Scarborough, Rachel went on to study at the University of Waterloo where she became increasingly aware of God’s relentless pursuit of her. She served as a student leader with KCF but was ardently opposed to pursuing student ministry. Ironically, after the completion of her undergraduate studies, she ended up serving as the youth pastoral intern at Toronto Chinese Methodist Church. Though she entered ministry kicking and screaming, it was there that she began to fall in love with the God who restores and affirms our identities. In 2016, she joined the New Hope Uptown community as a pastoral intern. She also received her M.Div from Tyndale Seminary with a focus in youth ministry because “youth are just enough crazy and a whole lot of fun”. She now passionately seeks to equip young people with a heart for God’s Kingdom.
For a number of years, Rachel happily lived in a community of believers in downtown Toronto – simply for the love of knowing Jesus and doing life together. It became her favourite pastimes to give local tours and host really big dinners. She has since moved back to Scarborough where she hangs out at dim sum with her weird but adorable Chinese family. You can also find her at her MMA gym where she is either working, training, or playing dead. She still loves hanging out at cafes and would happily go and drink an unhealthy amount of coffee with you.
