ABUNDANCE THROUGH SUFFERING

Pouring Out From Abundance (Message #4)

Philippians 1:19:-30

Rev. Jason Noh

Opening: Suffering is a gateway of receiving God’s abundance.

“Pain is God’s megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” (C. S. Lewis)

Stable Life vs. Abundant Life

1.     SUFFERING SQUEEZES OUT THE ESSENCE OF FAITH.

“As it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.” (v.20)

Squeezing

2.    UNDERSTANDING THE REASON FOR SUFFERING LEADS TO THE REASON FOR LIVING.

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (v.21)

“For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance.” (v.19)

“This will be my salvation, that the godless shall not come before him.” (Job 13:16)

“You cannot fulfil God's purposes for your life while focusing on your own plans.” (Rick Warren)

3.     EMBRACING SUFFERING AS PRIVILEGE.

“For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.” (v.29)

Suffering – Death – Resurrection

Broken and Healed vs. Staying Broken

Closing: Let us not waste suffering especially when it is hard.
