II. FOUNDATION OF FELLOWSHIP

a. We who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another. (Romans 12:5 NET)

b. “Only those who are in relationship with one another (objective fact) can have fellowship with one another (subjective experience).” - Jerry Bridges –

c. “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.  If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (1 John 1:3, 6-7)

d. “For in one Spirit we are all baptized into one body” (1 Corinthians 12:13)

e. “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation (=koinonia) in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” (Philippians 2:1-3)
