15 Now I urge you, brothers and sisters—you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints— 16 be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer. 17 I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence, 18 for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. Give recognition to such people.
Helping All People Move Towards Christ Together
How do we move towards Christ together?
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree…” (1 Corinthians 1:10, emphasis added)
Together Means Giving Up Ourselves for One Another (v. 15)
“Now I urge you, brothers and sisters—you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints…” (1 Corinthians 16:15)

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. (1 Corinthians 3:6-7)
Before Stephanas devoted himself to others, God devoted Himself to His people.
Stephanas & his household devoted themselves to the service of others.
Together Means Serving with One Another (v. 16)
“be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.” (1 Corinthians 16:16)
Togetherness requires submission.
We become fellow workers.
Together Means Refreshing One Another (vv. 17–18)
I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence, for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. Give recognition to such people. (1 Corinthians 16:17-18)
Togetherness produces joy.
Togetherness produces refreshment.
