Extraordinary Peace in Indifference - John 1:1-14
1. Looking for satisfaction from wrong places.
“He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.” (v. 10-11)
“All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (v. 3)
“Christ turned water into wine, but the church has succeeded in doing something even more difficult: it has turned wine into water.” (Sören Kierkegaard)
2. Confronting fake peace
“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.” (v. 9)
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” (Matthew 10:34)
3. Receiving fullness of life from Light of Jesus.
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (v. 12, 14)
“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (v. 4)
