CALLED OUT FOR GOD’S MISSION #11: PEOPLE WHO PRAISE & PRAY

Rev. Jason Noh

Isaiah 43:18-21, Deuteronomy 4:6-8

Opening: Missional life means going back to the basic.

“Mission arises from the heart of God himself, and is communicated from his heart to ours. Mission is the global outreach of the global people of a global God.” (John Stott)

1. THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF THE MISSION IS WORSHIP.

“Missions exists because worship doesn’t.” (John Piper)

“The people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.” (Isaiah 43:21)

Worship – Is God worthy?

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)

2.      GOD USES PRAYER AS A WAY OF SUBVERSION.

“Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” (The Lord’s Prayer)

“When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knee three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.” (Daniel 6:10)

“For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him?” (Deuteronomy 4:7)

“Prayer is the walkie-talkie of the church on the battlefield of the world in the service of the Word. It is not a dogmatic intercom to increase the temporal comforts of the saints… It is for those on active duty. And in their hands it proves the supremacy of God in the pursuit of the nations. When mission moves forward by prayer, it magnifies the power of God. When it moves by human management, it magnifies man.” (John Piper)

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” (John 15:16)

Closing: God’s people are God’s praise and prayer.
