Heart Detox #4: Strengthened In Our Heart

 
 

How are we strengthened in our hearts?

I. CHRIST RULING OVER EVERY PART OF OUR HEARTS

i. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. (Ephesians 3:16-17, NIV)

II. ROOTED IN LOVE OF GOD

i. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power… (Ephesians 3:17-18, NIV)

ii. “I saw more clearly than ever, that the first great and primary business to which I ought to attend every day was, to have my soul happy in the Lord. The first thing to be concerned about was not, how much I might serve the Lord, how I might glorify the Lord; but how I might get my soul into a happy state, and how my inner man might be nourished.” (George Müller)

iii. “God walks slowly because he is love. If he is not love he would have gone much faster. Love has its speed. It is an inner speed. It is a spiritual speed. It is a different kind of speed from the technological speed to which we are accustomed. It’s ‘slow’ yet it is lord over all other speeds since it is the speed of love.” (Kosuke Koyama)

III. SHARING GOD’S LOVE TOGETHER

i. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fulness of God. (Ephesians 3:17-19, NIV)
