“Motivations for Evangelism” - Acts 26:13-18

Introduction

  • “And Agrippa said to Paul, ‘Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?’ And Paul answered, ‘Short time or long—I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains’” (Acts 26:28-29)

1. The offer of the gospel is so incredibly good (to keep it to ourselves).

  • “to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” (Acts 26:18).

2. The absence of the gospel is so terribly bad (to not bring it to others).

  • to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” (Acts 26:18)

3. The God of the gospel is so magnificently glorious (to not singing about it to the nations).

  •  “At midday… I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun…” (Acts 26:13)
