“Motivations for Evangelism” - Acts 26:13-18
Introduction
“Evangelism is teaching the gospel with the aim to persuade” (Mack Stiles)
Barna Research: “Almost Half of Practicing Christian Millennials Say Evangelism Is Wrong” (https://www.barna.com/research/millennials-oppose-evangelism/)
“And Agrippa said to Paul, ‘Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?’ And Paul answered, ‘Short time or long—I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains’” (Acts 26:28-29)
1. The offer of the gospel is so incredibly good (to keep it to ourselves).
“to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” (Acts 26:18).
2. The absence of the gospel is so terribly bad (to not bring it to others).
“to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” (Acts 26:18)
3. The God of the gospel is so magnificently glorious (to not singing about it to the nations).
“At midday… I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun…” (Acts 26:13)
