Easter Sunday Service (Baptism)
JOHN 20:19-23

“Peace be with you.” (v.19b)

“Peace be with you.” (v.21a)


“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” (v.21b)


“If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” (v.23)


Peace, The Holy Spirit, Forgiveness


1. Overcoming the fear of death with peace.

“Life is a school in which we are trained to depart.” (Henri Nouwen)

 “The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” (1 Corinthians 15:26)


2. Overcoming division and isolation with the Holy Spirit.

“Then Jesus said to them, ‘You will all fall away because of me this night. For it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’” (Matthew 26:31)

 

“They would not believe it.” (Mark 16:11)

“They did not believe them.” (Mark 16:13)


3. Overcoming the bondage of sin with love. 

“If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” (v.23)
