God’s Kingdom Marriage
Sunday SERVICE: April 7, 2024
Rev. Jason Noh
Opening: God has designed marriage with clear purpose.
“What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” (v.9)
1. The essence of life as uniting with God.
“The two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh.” (v.8)
Through Singleness
Through Marriage
“I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another. To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am.” (1 Corinthians 7:7-8)
2. The essence of marriage as pursuing wholeness.
a. Pursuing wholeness through growth.
Through difference
Through taking responsibility
Through consideration and sacrifice
b. Pursuing wholeness through missional life.
Missional vs. Institutional
Allowed vs. Not allowed
“And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, ‘Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” (v.2)
“They said, ‘Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.’” (v.4)
“But from beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife.’” (v.6-7 )
“And God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it.’” (Genesis 1:28a)
Closing: We experience God’s redemption and the expansion of His kingdom through marriage and family.
