Rev. John Son

Pastor John was born in Korea and raised in the U.S. and Canada. He has lived in various cities, including Los Angeles, Iowa, Chicago, and Edmonton, before moving to Toronto in 2020 with his wife, Grace, and their daughter, Anna. Since then, their family has grown with the additions of Ian and Ina. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Alberta and an M.Div. and Th.M. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

Raised in a devout Christian family, Pastor John’s faith became personal when he wrestled with life’s ultimate truth, which he found in Jesus Christ. Surrendering his life to the Lord, he was called into pastoral ministry. He is grateful to be part of the New Hope Fellowship family and desires to share the gospel, walk alongside the church community, and grow together as a vibrant and missional body of Christ.

Joyce Kim

Joyce is an author and artist who's medium of choice is parables. The Jesus she met in her Sunday School still walks with her today, and she remembers what it felt like to join His family. No matter what country she was moved to from childhood to adulthood, Jesus was waiting for her in all sub cultures and ways of life.

She carries a deep tenderness for people hurt by the church & merely cultural christianity and works to lobby against the idolization of anything other than a personal relationship with Jesus.

A fan of themed events and costume making, her place is overrun by sculpted food, scissor wings, exploding robots, and too much cardboard. She met her best friend and husband, Sunny, at New Hope Fellowship and he helps her overflow in a more sustainable way. They had a baby boy and now there are two party animals Sunny needs to remind to go to sleep.

Joyce makes friends in the strangest places by finding Jesus in the arts and dancing for the Lord in a way only His grace could call good. And she can't wait to meet you too.
