Entering Into the Test
OPENING: Our faith journey needs to go through the testing period.
Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, ‘Whom do you seek?” (v. 4)
1. Truth being revealed through the test.
“Whom do you seek?” (v. 4)
“I am he.” (v. 5)
“Whom do you seek?” (v. 7)
“I told you that I am he. So, if you seek me, let these men go.” (v. 8)
“This was to fulfill the word that he had spoken: ‘Of those whom you gave me I have lost not one.’” (v. 9)
2. The consequences of choice being revealed through the test.
“Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place.” (v. 2)
“Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant” (v. 10)
