Heart Detox #7: Breaking Free From Addiction

Opening: The chain of addiction destroys lives.

Nomophobia

1.      RECOGNIZING THE REASONS FOR ADDICTION

“Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (v.21)

2.      ADMITTING THAT THE ADDICTION IS A FOOTHOLD FROM THE ENEMY

The enemy turns our ‘Want’ to ‘Need’

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2)

3.      RELEARNING THE WAYS TO BREAK FREE

a.       Rearranging the setting.

b.      Replacing with good habits.

“Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.” (v.19)

c.       Renewing our identity.

“As is proper among saints” (v.3b)

“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit.” (v.18)

Closing: The saints live out freedom through the filling of the Spirit.
