“The Starting Point” - Hebrews 1:1-4, 2:1-4

“Running the Race Together” series, message #2

Hebrews 1:1-4; 2:1-4

 1.      Jesus as the final word of God.

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.” (v.1-2)

“He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.’” (Matthew 17:5)

“But in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he crated the world.” (v.2)

 2.      Jesus as the perfect imprint of God.

“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (v.3)

“He upholds the universe by the word of his power”

 3.      Jesus as the reason for the race.

“Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.” (2:1)
