SCHoLARSHIP APPLICATION

The LPC Scholarships were established in 2022 by members, families and friends of Light Presbyterian Church (LPC). The purpose of the LPC Scholarships is to foster and nurture the younger generation with the character of Jesus Christ and to assist them to grow into exemplary and influential leaders of the church and society by supporting them financially in their academic pursuits.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants may only apply for 1 scholarship.
All Applicants must be a Christian but preference and priority of award will be given to members of Light Presbyterian Church (or New Hope Fellowship) or a Christian in the community to which the Light Presbyterian Church belongs. In addition, Applicants must have a Canadian Social Insurance Number as the scholarship is taxable.
Applicant’s application submission must consist of and include the following:
Application Form;
Self-introduction/vision essay;
Confession of Faith / Personal Testimony;
High School or Post-Secondary transcript from last 2 semesters;
Certificate or letter of admission/enrollment (2 - 4-year post-secondary or graduate school);
Two letters of recommendation.
Letters of recommendation must be sent directly to the LPC Scholarship Committee by the recommender using the email address: lpcscholarship2@gmail.com. All other application documents and/or media should be sent to the email address: lpcscholarship1@gmail.com.
In addition to the above, the following is required for applicants of the following scholarships:
EASEL Scholarship Applicants:
7. Applicant’s art portfolio sent in digital file format (for EASEL scholarship applicants only)
Asan Scholarship Applicants:
8. Applicant’s performance video sent as an attachment or URL link.
Volunteer Scholarship Applicants:
9. Proof of volunteer work (volunteer forms); and
10. Faith testimony about their volunteer experience(s).
Missionary and Children of Missionaries & Pastors Scholarship Applicants
11. Letter of recommendation from the sponsoring missionary organization.
Please note the following:
1. Duplicate or multiple applications for scholarships from the same individual are not permitted; applicants may only apply for one scholarship type.
2. Submitted documents will not be returned.
3. Only complete application submissions will be considered. Any application submission that is missing any required document(s) will not be considered and will be excluded from consideration.
The 2025 application submission deadline is 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time) on June 30, 2025.

Those who are enrolled in a theological college/graduate school recognized by the church and who meet the selection requirements.

To nurture Christian leaders who are influential in the church and their community; those who are pursuing a master’s, doctoral degree or higher.

Those who are currently enrolled or will be in their first year of a 2 - 4 year post-secondary program that are exemplary to others among LPC alumni.

Those who are enrolled in a 2 – 4 year university program who are missionaries recommended by fellow missionary workers, their children, or children of full-time pastoral staff serving the church community.

For students in Grade 12 or higher who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer spirit and achievements within or outside the church community.

Community Scholarship is for a Christian in the Korean or Malton community where LPC belongs. Those who have a promising future in each major field are recommended by the community.
Easel Scholarship is for an individual with outstanding talent in the field of fine art or visual art. -
Community Scholarship is for a Christian in the Korean or Malton community where LPC belongs. Those who have a promising future in each major field are recommended by the community.
Special Student Scholarship is for an individual with outstanding talent in their field of major. In addition to those who are currently enrolled in a 2 – 4 year post-secondary program; students currently in high school are eligible for this scholarship.

For commemorating the praise ministry of the late Pastor Jaehoon Park (Ho-Asan). This scholarship will be awarded to a person who demonstrates outstanding talent in the field of music.

For those who are enrolled in a theological college/graduate school recognized by the church or those who meet the selection requirement of training to become a missionary or pastor.
